The B500 runs 60km along the spine of the northern Black Forest between Baden-Baden and Freudenstadt. It's a fast, flowing ridge road through dense fir forest with occasional clearings that open to views across the Rhine valley to the Vosges. Surface is excellent — German federal road maintenance at its best. The road sits between 800m and 1,000m so it's open year-round with occasional winter closures. Best driven on a weekday morning when lorry traffic is minimal. Pairs well with a stop in Baden-Baden. Not dramatic, but deeply satisfying at a steady pace.
